The City School District of New Rochelle Board of Education elected member William Iannuzzi to a second term as President during the Board’s annual reorganizational meeting on July 6. In addition, Adina Berrios Brooks was elected to a third term as Vice President, and Dr. Corey W. Reynolds was sworn in as Superintendent of Schools.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be elected for a second year as President of this Board of Education. I thank my fellow Board members for allowing me this opportunity to serve our community,” said Iannuzzi. “As we welcome our new Superintendent, Dr. Corey Reynolds, I am excited for the prospect of continued stability, the potential for growth and innovation, and, more importantly, a safe space for our kids to grow and learn.”
Tuesday’s meeting also included the swearing-in of newly elected members Makeda Lewis and Don Vega.
Iannuzzi was first elected to the Board of Education in 2019, served as Vice President in the 2020-2021 school year, and has been heavily involved in Board activities during his tenure. In addition to being an active “Board Buddy” to our schools, where he attends school events and activities, Iannuzzi has served on the Policy Committee and the Onboarding Committee for new school board members.
Outside of the school district, Iannuzzi is the Director of Clubhouse/Secondary School Programming at the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle, where he has taken on progressively responsible roles for the past 12 years. He is a graduate of Mercy College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in public accounting and is currently enrolled in the Master of Public Administration program at the University at Albany. Iannuzzi attended Daniel Webster Magnet School, Albert Leonard Middle School, and New Rochelle High School.
Brooks, the Board Vice President, was elected to the New Rochelle Board of Education in 2020. She has served as the Board’s liaison to the Westchester Putnam School Boards Association and on its board, as a Board Buddy, and has chaired the Government Advocacy Committee. In addition to her volunteer role at the school district, she serves as Associate Provost for Faculty Diversity and Inclusive Pathways in the Office of the Provost at Columbia University. In addition to the faculty diversity portfolio, she leads the Inclusive Faculty Pathways portfolio, which aims to support and grow Columbia pathways programs, expand access to Columbia graduate programs and support trainees in pursuit of an academic career. Earlier in her career at Columbia University, Brooks held several roles in undergraduate and graduate admissions and student affairs. Before higher education, she held an organizing position with the Children’s Defense Fund-New York, working with communities across the state to advocate for children’s health.
