George Davis Jr. Elementary School kicked off its month-long Readathon campaign with the help of the New Rochelle High School Cheer Team!
The cheerleaders and their spirit helped pump up the Davis students during a kickoff assembly promoting a love of reading.
Paige the Dolphin made a special appearance, and Davis PTA members dressed up as crayons from the book, “The Day the Crayons Quit.” Students won prizes during the assembly by answering literary trivia questions, and even had the chance to win a Davis Teddy Bear reading buddy, which students can read to and talk to about the characters and their favorite moments of a story.
Students left the assembly excited about reading – and conquering the school’s goal of reading for 1 million minutes!
